Quake 3 review

Quake 3 is a multiplayer, first person shooter game, the game was developed by id Software. Quake 3 also has single player mode which allows players to play against controlled bots. The platforms the game is set on are Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Amiga, Dreamcast, PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360. It was first released on Windows on 2nd December 1999.

The gameplay in Quake 3 is made up of mainly multiplayer, to player online with other players or friends. There is a single player mode that players can play it is made up of the player and controlled bots. The player can change the map, how many bots there are and what mode it will be in (team death match). I think this game is good fun to play with friends because you can just have a laugh, it is not the best designed game ever made but it is still enjoyable to play. There is not a goal that needs to be completed or any targets that need to be found. In the game players can find different guns like a shot gun, there is also ammo that can be picked up and there is also health to be picked up as well. Overall the gameplay has not got a lot of things in it, and to improve on this they could add in different guns and different pickups.

The fun Factor of this game is that players can play with friends and have a laugh. Players can choose what character they want to play as and what their name is when playing the game. Players are able to choose whether their want to play on the single player game mode against controlled bots, maybe to do some practice before going up against online players or friends, or on multiplayer against friends and random online players. Overall the game does get boring over time but for the first few hours it is really good fun. To improve on this I would of added maybe objects that need to be collected of targets that need to be captured or defended.

The graphics on the game are not really that good the game is blurry not much detail has be put into the game for example the pickups and the guns. When the game was released there was a problem with the graphics, but it was quickly fixed for the players. There are graphics mods to improve the graphics which is good for the people that know how to get those mods and how to put them into the game. Overall the games graphics are not that good so I wouldn't recommend the game if you are going to buy it for its graphics unless you know where to get the graphics mods from and how to put them on the game.

The sounds on the game are also not the best just because there are not very many of them, there is sound effects from the guns being shoot and there is sound from the characters when they have been shoot and when they jump into the air. Overall the sounds in the game could be improved by having more sound effect from characters, from the pickups and maybe having music at the beginning on the home screen to set the mood of the game.

The replay ability in the game is that players can play against different players on the multiplayer game mode and there is mods that players can get to put into the game to make it better and more improved. There is no DLC pack to be downloaded so that could be an improvement for the game to allow players to download DLC pack for new maps, new guns and new pickups. Overall there is not much for the replay ability apart from being able to play different players.

Overall for this games PROS there is being able to player against different players online for the replay ability and there is being able to add mods in to the game to improve it. For the CONS there is not much sound effects that have been put into the game, graphics are not the best and there is not much things in the gameplay like (pickups). Overall I am going to give the game a 6/10 because there is a lot of things that need to be improved on it.
