Mirrors Edge

Mirrors Edge Review
Mirrors Edge is a single player game that is made up of action-adventure and it is a first person player game. The game was developed by EA Digital Illusions CE and was published by Electronic Arts. The came out November 2008 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Mirrors Edge has sold over two million copies worldwide and was given 79/100 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The fun factor in this game is that players can free run on buildings inside buildings and in the streets. I enjoyed playing this game because of the free running and also the choice of being able to run away from the enemies or to stand and fight. I would like it if there was a multiplayer option to play with friends and other random players. Overall I did find the game to be fun and enjoyable to play but to make it better add a multiplayer option.
The gameplay in Mirrors Edge is that players have to jump, run, climb, scale narrow edges and wall faces to get through levels. Through the game there are part that will be in the colour red to show players were to go. The problem with using colour to help player is that players that are colour blind cannot see the colour red. Also it would be okay if there was a colour blind option in the game but there isn’t. I found the gameplay to be enjoyable to play I liked the way that you can free run on top of building etc. Overall I think the gameplay is very good for people that are not colour blind.

The Graphics in Mirrors Edge were good when the game came out but now the graphics in some games are amazing. There are some games that have worse graphics than Mirrors edge so it is not like it is a bad game. The game uses realism, exaggeration and cell-shading when in the game you can see the use of cell-shading when the cut scenes come up. In some parts of the game you can see the reflection off mirrors and glass from the building this makes the game seem more realistic. The use of bright colours when in the game gives it that effect of exaggeration when playing the game. Overall the graphics on the game were good for when the game came out.

The sounds in the game are okay I didn’t hear very many of them when playing the game but for the ones I did hear the sounded good. There was sounds from the characters when they were talking in the cut scenes, the voices sounded really clear and easy to make out what they were saying. There is also sound effects from when enemies are shooting at you, like from the gun shots. Overall the sounds in the game are good but could be better by adding in more sounds.
The replayability in this game is not the best because there is not very much that would encourage players to play the game again. The only thing that would encourage players to play again is that is the achievement that players can achieve for example completing the campaign without shooting an enemy. There is also an online race time trial which involves players to get the best time in a race to rank up on the leader board. Overall there is not much on the replayability but there is something to encourage players to play the game again.

Overall I think the game is fun to player because of the free running. The PROS in this game are that players have the choice of running away from enemies or stay and fight. Also being able to get achievement with in the game and that players that are colour blind will not know where to go. The CONS in this game are that there are not very much sound effects in the game and that there are not very much for the replayability. Overall I am going to give the game a 7/10
