Review On Space Marine

Review on Space Marine

On the 6th September 2011 a game called Space Marine was first released on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and developed by Relic Entertainments. The publishers of Space Marine made a demo n the Xbox 360 and on PC on August 23, 2011, then for PlayStation 3 later on. The demo was very good and encouraged lots more people to buy the game, the game has sold over 1.2million copies.

I found when playing the game with friends and also on my own to be real fun and exciting by finding collectables and blowing aliens up. The game is very goy game. I didn’t really enjoy playing this game just because I thought it a copy of Gears of War and also I did not like that it was in 3rd person, I am more of a 1st person game type of person. If people like 3rd person games then I recommend is for them. The things that I found fun were being able to pick up better weapons also being able to us a sword, a gun and kicking aliens.

The story in this game is about an alien (Orks) invading the Forge World Garia which is a planet devoted to military production. The three Ultramarines have come from another planet to defend and stop the aliens for getting the towering war machine that can destroy cities. I find this story to be very unrealistic but very interesting to play. The gameplay in this game, players can use different kinds of weapons from swords to guns. They can find best weapons and upgrades as the game goes on, the game is set as a 3rd person point of view. The character has regenerative abilities e.g when his health gets low, performing some actions can allow him to regain a portion of his health. There is a health bar on the top of the players screen to show weather the player is low on health or not, there is also a bar showing how much ammo you have, this is show on the right hand side. I did not really enjoy playing this game as I am not a big fan on 3rd person games but overall the gameplay is enjoyable.

The graphics on this game are very good, there were some problems with the graphics at first lots of players have graphics errors on the game but now have been fixed. I really like how Relic Entertainments did the gory parts in the game all most look as it was real e.g when shooting the aliens, the blood coming out of them look very realistic. Also the detail on the Ultramarines armor look extremely good, overall the graphics look amazing and look very realistic.

For the sounds in the game like the voices and the alien noises, I didn’t think they were that good just because the sounds where the same in the battle zones the characters would just say the same thing over and over again the only time they would say something different would be in the cut scenes. Overall the sound effects from the gunshots, the sword slashes and noises from the characters and the aliens are good.

I don’t think I would play this game again, because it seemed to be the same though out the game. For the replay ability there is collectables in the campaign to find, and players can get achievements set in the game. There is different abilities to use on the character there is a multiplayer game mode to play online against/with other players or friends. There is also downloadable content (DLC) that can be downloaded for multiplayer like maps and weapons. Overall the replay ability is good I have not tried the multiplayer yet but some players have said that it is good fun.

Overall the game is fun to play if you like 3rd person and like a bit blood and gory in the gameplay. The positives in this game are the replay ability is good as well as the story. The negatives for this game are that the sound effects in the game are pretty much the same all the way though and that there have been problems with the game like the graphics. Overall I am giving the game a 7/10.
